[[Sony Europe]] dementerar nu uppgifterna som cirkulerat på internet sedan en tysk hemsida rapporterat att ett stort antal av 40 GB-versionen av [[Playstation 3]] har något fel i hårdvaran. Enligt sidan så skulle upp till 40% av enheterna vara drabbade, men uppgifterna sägs vara helt felaktiga enligt David Reeves på #Sony. Han menar istället att konsolen är av bästa kvalitet och att sidan är ett bra exempel på dålig journalistik.
