Real Heroes: Sir Nicholas Winton, the British Schindler
Sir Nicholas Winton was a British humanitarian who saved 669 children , and countless more adults, during World War 2. He was repsonsible for the organization and execution of the rescue, as well as took part in the operation itself.
After a list that he kept of the people he saved was found, it as realized the extent of his actions, and an event was put together in order to celebrate his heroism. The result is touching.
Winston sits invited in the Audience for the TV-show in 1988. He has no idea that everyone but him and his wife are people that he saved during the war. When he realizes this he breaks into tears, as do many in the audience.
Sir Nicholas Winston is a grand example of an enormous heart and tireless care for the innocent. Today he is 105 years old and still living in London!
Sir Nicholas Winton, I salute you and thank you for a life dedicated to those who needed help in a desperate position. Over 8500 people owe you their lives today, and you deserve the highest of respect from not only them, but the world in general. Thank you.
