LG signed a video deal with LG mobiles (Engelska)

South Korea?s LG Electronics said Tuesday it has signed an agreement with YouTube, the world?s biggest video-sharing website, to develop a mobile phone that can operate the YouTube service. LG Electronics said the proposed model will enable users to upload, view and share video clips or user-created content (UCC) online freely without using computers. ?LG Electronics will unveil a mobile handset that fully supports the YouTube service for the first time in Europe in the second half of this year,? the South Korean firm said in a statement. It began selling third-generation (3G) handsets called Google phones with software installed for directly using the Google service, in Europe last month. The phone offers one-click access to Google?s search engine as well as Google maps and Gmail.

But the deal is far from exclusive. LG also inked a similar agreement with Google rival Yahoo Inc. to put that company?s services on some handsets. Specifically, LG will install Yahoo Go for Mobile 2.0, Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Messenger on some handsets. In some cases where the cellular carrier buys phones from LG and co-brands them, the software and features installed on the handset are decided by the carrier. In these cases phones might carry none of the Google or Yahoo applications. YouTube launched a version of its service formatted for cell phones and other mobile devices earlier this year.
