"I awaken in a room that could double as a small closet, furnished just as sparsely. My head pounds like the first time I indulged in Stolovaya Vodka, back before the motherland collapsed into the hopeless abyss of capitalism and greed. Before me stands an aging Ukrainian, introducing himself as Sidorovich. The look on his face is as blank as my memory. I reach instinctively for my pistol, but it's gone. Lost, confused and as defenseless as a toothless mutt, I have no choice but to listen to him. He gives me a sprinkling of sketchy details about where I am, making little sense. Something about a radioactive zone near the charred shell of Chernobyl, strange artifacts, mercenary Stalkers and creatures that belong in the pages of a Lovecraft novel rather than walking the face of the Earth. He promises me more information if I help him out. I have little choice but to agree.
