Den nyligen omlanserade spelsajten Adrenaline Vault har ställt ett antal frågor till den frispråkiga designern John Romero och fått en del intressanta svar. Bland annat tror den föredetta ID Software-mannen att konsoler i samma stil som Playstation 3 och Xbox 360 kan komma att vara ett minne blott. För att överleva måste de istället göra som Nintendo och deras Wii:
My prediction is that the game console in the vein of the PS3 and XBOX 360 is going to either undergo a massive rethink or go away altogether. The Wii has the perfect design for a console that doesn?t pretend to be a PC and is geared more toward casual gamers than hardcore gamers.
Romero var även en av de första som såg potentialen i det som nu kallas e-sports och han tror fortfarande att det kommer bli något att räkna med i framtiden.
Pro gaming has been growing at a steady rate the past 10 years and I don?t see any signs of it slowing down. There?s so many more organizations now than there were back in the 90?s and everyone has an opportunity and higher probability to win something nowadays with all the events taking place
