In a time when most companies developing strategy games have turned their focus towards realtime based conflicts rendered in 3D, Swedish Paradox Interactive has done the complete opposite. The company's first title - the critically acclaimed Europa Universalis - was the first game to set the trend, which ever since has ensured qualities like historical accuracy on top of a strategic depth that goes far beyond mere combat. Hearts of Iron 2 is Paradox' latest attempt to bring up the quality of World War 2-based games a notch.
