While "Elden Ring" was designed as a premium game with a set price tag, Tencent wants to make it a free-to-play game with in-app purchases, similar to the hit game "Genshin Impact" developed by its Chinese rival miHoYo, the people said.
Ewwwww.
"People will go crazy over this but some important context added -
"...But the design of "Elden Ring" is so at odds with Tencent's vision that the progress is still at demo stage.Tencent has had issues with adapting big console games for smartphones. It axed a project based on the "Nier" franchise in Dec over monetization concerns, as I reported last week.Slowing growth and hefty royalty fee now make IP games hard to profit."
This has apparently been worked at since 2022 but "progress has been slow"
This is just another attempt by Tencent to try to launch something successful but don't be shocked if this doesn't materialise, like the article mentions - elden ring's mechanism is at stark odds with what Tencent is trying here"

The more I practice, the luckier I get.
Käre Mr. Pony, sluta larva dig nu.
Elden Impact
”A man with a conviction is a hard man to change. Tell him you disagree and he turns away. Show him facts or figures and he questions your sources. Appeal to logic and he fails to see your point.
