Det stormade rejält bland kommentarsfälten på internet efter en intervju med Josef Fares, 2018-aktuell med E3-älsklingen A Way Out. Intervjun gjordes av Engadget och i den säger Fares:
You want the honest truth? This machine is not so strong as you think. This is like a five-year-old PC. If consoles were as powerful as pc:s are today, you would see all different games. Most of the work developers put out there is to make them work on consoles.
"This machine" är i det här fallet Playstation 4. Nästan ett halvår senare uttalar sig Fares om citatet för Gamingbolt. "Det är inte ens värt att kommentera", säger han. Sedan gör han just det:
It was so taken out of context. And I don't even want to comment on that. It's so ... I mean, the people who wrote that, it's so silly, it's not even worth commenting on. And if I meet this journalist, I would ask them, 'like what were you trying to do here?'
Fares poängterar att han drivs av passion och inte bryr sig om hårdvara. Han tycker konsolkrig är "bullshit" och att citatet var "extremt, extremt" ryckt ur sitt sammanhang. Fares säger att han äger varenda konsol men att han struntar i om dessa är bra eller ej – det är spelen som spelar roll.
But people seem to like this console war, and so some journalist wanted to have some clicks on his page, I don't know.
