Det har gått ganka precis ett år sedan debatten kring lootlådor blossade upp ordentligt, mycket på grund av spel som Star Wars: Battlefront 2 och Forza Motorsport 7. Det blev startskottet till att allt fler myndigheter fick upp ögonen för ett problem spelbranschen har varit medvetet om i åratal och vissa, såsom Belgien, har gått så långt som att helt förbjuda den typen av mekanik i spel. Nu har 15 europeiska organisationer mot gambling gått samman för att gemensamt utreda faran i sådana implementationer.

I pressmeddelandet skriver Neil McArthur, representaten från Storbritanniens Gambling Comission:

We have joined forces to call on video games companies to address the clear public concern around the risks gambling and some video games can pose to children. We encourage video games companies to work with their gambling regulators and take action now to address those concerns to make sure that consumers, and particularly children, are protected.

Sverige är inte ett av länderna som är med i denna koalition men däremot Norge.
